Today was our trip to the quaint and sweet town of Carmel. By midday we should have been driving round the 7-mile drive, taking pictures of the most photographed cypress tree in the world while taking in the fresh seabreeze scent of this beach town.
But, we missed it.
Nope, the alarms (note the plural form) didn’t fail us. It was our internal snooze buttons. We woke up then just go right back to sleep.
Happened several times til I just gave up and gave in to my Saturday morning sleeping rites, my tradition of sleeping til noon. Hehehe!
But still today was one of my almost-perfect days. I don’t regret missing that trip (or if the travel agency won’t book us ever again). Today was just great but in such a normal way.
We ate a normal lunch. Took a normal shower. With a free day, I perused through the list of garage sales of the day; and with my trusty roommate drove to a few with our car’s 4-cylinders ablazing. Went home with an spanking shiny unused rotisserie. Woohoo! Brand new kitchen gadget! Rawr!
Perfect day points = 1!
Roomy suggested that we should finally go to Whole Foods (after living practically 3 blocks away for almost a year). We thought, “let’s just look and compare prices with our usual grocer.” Ended up buying my grocery list for the week (which I have been meaning to do for 3 days hehehe.) We thought we broke our wallets with Whole Foods but still our wallets barely made it. We trying out a new grocer anyway.
Groceries done, perfect day plus point again: 2!
Went home. Did the dishes. And coz we bought a lot of new spices, I organized a spice drawer.
Perfect day points = 3! Ahahahaha!
With my week’s grocery done, I was able to cook grilled chicken with cajun rub, grilled sweet corn and black bean salad. Forgot to serve the salad, rotisseried (not grilled as instructed) the corn and chicken. Yet it was so amazing to just cook again. We get to test the rotisserie too! Even snucked in my own food concuction hihihi. Soiled the newly washed dishes again, but who cares.

Wow, look at the messy kitchen. Me cooking 3 dishes and Roomy cooking 1, there definitely was no room on the kitchen counter.
Perfect day points just keeped on rolling.
Finished Just Shoot Me! season 2. I think our fern plant is growing two new branches (even though we probably killed a lot more of its branches). Roomy loved the food. Not to mentioned they are healthier and organic (yes, even when I forgot the salad hehehe).
Today was almost a perfect day.
What would have made it perfect… if I got to clean the apartment too. Our apartment’s a mess right now.
But hey, there’s only 24 hours in a day. I can clean tomorrow. We got too much leftover food, no need to cook. I have all the time in the world to do a thorough cleaning with naps in between.
Yes, today was truly awesome. I am so glad I missed the trip or I would have missed this day. Can’t wait to have a day like this again. 🙂
